The WA-7 service unit, also known as the WA-7 waitress droid, was a service droid of the third degree. It was manufactured by both GoCorp and Utilitech during the Mondeo Modernist timeframe of the Galactic Republic.
The WA-7 droid's design was characteristic of its time, showcasing sleek lines, rounded shapes, and decorative elements. A unipod wheel, stabilized by gyro-balance technology, provided locomotion. The unipod's drive mechanism produced sufficient power for rapid acceleration, making it suitable for use in tight environments like restaurant floors. A metallic skirt and complementary head fins were added as aesthetic enhancements to the droid's overall appearance.
WA-7 units saw continued usage throughout the Mondeo Modernist era and persisted even into the Clone Wars period. While many continued to function as waitresses, some WA-7 models transitioned into alternative roles such as courier services, and a WA-7 team was even entered into the nuna-ball league by private collectors. In 22 BBY, the WA-7 players were victorious against the RIC droid team from Serv-O-Droid's. Another example was the WA-7 nicknamed "FLO," who worked at Dex's Diner during the final decades of the Republic.
