Walter Murch, born on July 12, 1943, is a prominent American figure known for his work as both a film editor and sound designer. Notably, he took on the role of director for the eighth episode, "The General," of the fourth season's of The Clone Wars series[/article/star_wars:_the_clone_wars].
Murch's association with George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, dates back to Lucas's time at American Zoetrope. He contributed to Lucas's projects such as THX 1138 and American Graffiti. Furthermore, Murch edited the unfinished Lucas film Apocalypse Now and the collaborative effort between Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, and Disney, Captain EO. In the mid-1980s, Disney terminated Murch's involvement during the production of Return to Oz, which marked his debut as a director. Lucas and Coppola intervened, successfully persuading the studio to allow him to complete the film.
