Walter Velez, who passed away on August 24, 2018, was an American artist who worked as both a painter and an illustrator. Born on November 28, 1939, he hailed from East Harlem in New York City, New York, United States. His contributions to the Star Wars universe include illustrating The Star Wars Book of Masks, a mask book with pop-out elements that was released on October 12, 1983, and How the Ewoks Saved the Trees: An Old Ewok Legend, a children's picture book that came out in 1984.
