The White Plague, which Luke Skywalker also called the "Weeping Pox", was a false disease conceived by the Fallanassi. It spread across the Almanian system moon Pydyr in 44 ABY, following the arrival of the dark side being known as Abeloth. Being sensitive to the Force, the Fallanassi yielded to Abeloth's control and manifested the illusion by controlling the White Current. This made all individuals not immersed in the Current genuinely perceive the plague's symptoms, such as imagined rashes, on their own bodies.
Unable to discover either a treatment or a cause for the plague, the people of Pydyr responded by quarantining the whole moon. They halted all departures and cautioned all approaching ships. The White Plague also generated a climate of dread on Pydyr, which Abeloth exploited to restore her energy. The fear felt by Pydyr's residents was focused in a molten pit located within the assembly hall of the concealed Fallanassi village. After Abeloth's defeat and escape from Pydyr, the illusions disappeared.
