Wookieepedia:The Great Typo Hunt

Wookieepedia, a dynamic and constantly evolving community, is subject to frequent edits and expansions. However, these modifications sometimes introduce spelling inaccuracies. Whether attributed to haste, a lack of knowledge, or keyboard errors, numerous typos are present within Wookieepedia's articles. While these errors are understandable, they detract from the professionalism of the site. Therefore...

The Grand Typo Eradication Project

Initiated in October 2006, the Typo Hunt aims to eliminate prevalent spelling errors and monitor recurring ones to prevent future occurrences.

Examine the typo list, which can be sorted alphabetically by typo or by the most recent check date. Utilize the search function to identify articles containing these typos. If the typo is absent, no action is needed. Update the "Last updated" field with the current date (in YYYY/MM/DD format). If the typo is found, correct all instances and then update the "Last updated" field.

Be aware that certain typos may persist due to intentional misspellings in quoted source material, typos being the subject of the article, or typos in uploaded image filenames. (Feel free to re-upload these images with the correct filenames if possible.) Avoid correcting typos unless they are clearly unintentional or due to ignorance. If uncertain, add a note in the "Notes" field.

As stated in the talk page policy, "users should not modify or delete existing comments," with limited exceptions. Refrain from editing others' comments to correct wording, typos, or formatting. This applies to all talk, thread, and discussion pages.

When searching for typos, thoroughly review the entire article, as one typo often indicates the presence of others. Document any new typos discovered, and if they are not already in the Great Typo Hunt list, add them to the bottom of the table, following the provided format. (If you are uncomfortable editing the table, list the new typos on the Talk page with the date last checked.)

Wookieepedia generally prefers American spellings. Exercise caution when correcting British spellings, as quoted source material should remain unchanged. British spellings should not be marked with "[sic]". This is unnecessary. There is no way to properly mark a British spelling within the context of an article; therefore, careful examination of the context is needed in each search. Questionable instances can be discussed on the Talk page.
