Yan, a Human Farmer from the planet [Prine], and also Maddie's older brother, was a youthful male. During one dawn, as he was farming alongside his sister, just outside the fortified village, slavers ambushed them. Yan, unable to find refuge inside the town, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen and consequently died, whereas Maddie was taken prisoner and restrained.
