Yarael Poof's lightsaber

A blue colored lightsaber was the weapon of choice, wielded with great skill, by Yarael Poof, the Quermian Jedi Master within the ranks of the Jedi Order. Its energy source was a kyber crystal. Despite the height difference between Poof and his adversaries, which sometimes made him hesitant to engage, he showed remarkable agility and expertise in using his lightsaber, a testament to his unique, spineless physiology.

In the year 33 BBY, Poof playfully declined to draw his lightsaber during a training exercise alongside fellow Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and a group of younglings. Later that same year, during the Defense of Kwenn, Poof effectively employed his lightsaber to repel pirate forces commanded by the pirate leader Zilastra. In 12 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Vader experienced a vision where he faced numerous Jedi from his past, including Poof. Within this vision, Poof's spectral image brandished his lightsaber before being assaulted and ultimately cut down by Vader.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Yarael Poof's lightsaber in established Star Wars canon occurred in Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away, a reference publication authored by Tim Leong and distributed in 2017. Its initial visual representation, albeit in a vision, was in the twenty-fifth issue of the 2017 comic series Star Wars: Darth Vader, penned by Charles Soule, illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and brought to the public by Marvel Comics on December 19, 2018. The history of Poof's lightsaber began in the Star Wars Legends timeline, making its debut in the second issue of the comic book series Jedi Council: Acts of War, crafted by Randy Stradley, with artistry by Davidé Fabbri, and released by Dark Horse Comics on July 19, 2000.

The panel in Darth Vader 25, which depicts Darth Vader's destruction of a spectral Poof, mistakenly shows the lightsaber with a green blade. However, earlier in that same issue, it is correctly displayed as blue. It is once again, and incorrectly, shown as green on the cover of the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight, which was launched by Marvel as a part of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic multi-platform project on October 4, 2023. The cover's artwork was the creation of Phil Noto.

Yarael Poof's lightsaber makes an appearance in the non-canonical 2022 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Within the game's environment, it is visible at Yarael Poof's side when he is selected as the playable character. When players initiate an attack, Poof draws and activates the lightsaber, using it as his weapon.
