Yubals, used as beasts of burden, were tamed by the Chiss people on the world of Celwis. The rancher Xodlak'phr'ooa's family owned a group of yubals, which they were able to attract with specialized lure sticks and control with growzers.
The Chiss girl Lakris believed that yubals were among the least intelligent creatures with four legs. Conversely, the Agbui child Frosif asserted that she had witnessed even less intelligent animals being taught to perform tasks.
