Z-1, a droid with a canine appearance, was the creation of the Twi'lek Kalina Kalfus, who frequently repaired the droid when it experienced technical issues. This droid, Z-1, operated in a manner analogous to an astromech droid, communicating exclusively through mechanical noises and executing maintenance on Kalina's space tug as necessary; it also had the capability to record and project holograms. In contrast to standard astromech droids, Z-1 possessed a four-legged locomotion system and featured a central, accordion-style torso that could be elongated to access elevated areas. Furthermore, the droid was equipped with two appendages on its head that bore a resemblance to the ears of a dog.
