Emperor Palpatine's robes were crafted from zeyd-cloth.
Zeyd-cloth describes a non-reflective, dark-colored material distinguished by its square, waffle-like weave pattern. Its use dates back to at least the era of the Galactic War, when it was fashioned into various clothing articles, including robes, tunics, boots, gloves, and head coverings. Subsequently, members of the Banite Sith often chose to wear black, hooded robes made from zeyd-cloth. Among these figures were Darth Plagueis and his apprentice, Darth Sidious. Even after Sidious dismantled the Galactic Republic to establish his New Order, he maintained his preference for these understated garments in his role as Galactic Emperor. The Emperor's Inquisitors also wore dark maroon zeyd-cloth robes, intentionally designed to evoke the imagery of dark blood. Although Sith zeyd-cloth garments appeared simple, the material could also be used to create expensive, custom-made suits. Tuyay, a Human who served as the Chief Operating Officer for Ororo Transportation, was known to sport such a suit.
