A Chiss individual named Zsu Val, identified as male, existed during the time of the Galactic Civil War.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Zsu Val found himself as an inmate within the Imperial Research and Prison Facility located on the planet Dathomir. During 1 ABY, an incident occurred at the research center. The Blackwing virus under study there broke free from its containment, leading to the near annihilation of the local population, transforming them into ravenous undead beings. Consequently, the Galactic Empire quickly put in place a Quarantine Zone with the goal of containing the spread of the infection. The small number of people who managed to survive the initial outbreak of the virus, Zsu Val among them, were stuck within the Quarantine Zone. These remaining survivors created encampments as a defense against the persistent zombie attacks, seeking safety and awaiting rescue.

The Chiss sought refuge in Camp Epsilon, considered the most perilous camp due to its location within the courtyard of the Imperial Research and Prison Facility, which housed the most dangerous of the undead. Other survivors present in the camp at that time included the technician Sogan Varga, the mechanic Nils Cridmeen, the Inquisitor Klex Fulgor, along with stormtroopers identified as GT-643, KD-121 and HX-138. Zsu Val held the responsibility for the camp's primary defense and habitually enlisted the help of spacers who dared to enter the Quarantine Zone to aid him in this critical task.
At a later time, a band of spacers assisted the surviving refugees of Camp Epsilon in repairing a damaged Lambda-class shuttle that was located within the camp. Ultimately, the survivors and the spacers successfully escaped the Quarantine Zone together using the repaired shuttle.
Zsu Val functioned as a non-player character within the 2003 video game titled Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game which was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and then published by LucasArts, before its termination on December 15, 2011. Zsu Val's inclusion in the game occurred with "Game Update 14," also known as the "Death Troopers" update, which was released on October 12, 2009.
