220-SIG Tactical Combat Jammer
The 220-SIG Tactical Combat Jammer represented a specific version of a sensor jammer, produced by Kuat Drive Yards.
Description
The 220-SIG Tactical Combat Jammers were sizable devices, regarded as the most potent sensor jammers ever conceived. They featured a directional dish on top, enabling the unit to focus its jamming on particular angles, thereby creating limited areas of signal disruption. This design allowed sensor arrays to maintain their normal operation and continue collecting information.
History
During the Battle of Yavin, the Death Star hosted hundreds of 220-SIG Tactical Combat Jammers. These devices compelled Rebel pilots to rely on visual target acquisition from inside their cockpits.
Furthermore, 220-SIG units were implemented on the Death Star II, effectively concealing the status of the battle station's deflector shield from Alliance sensors. During the Battle of Endor, they also stopped the Alliance Fleet from noticing the concentration of Star Destroyers poised to ambush them.
