5P8 served as a Prowler-class reconnaissance vessel within the New Republic Defense Fleet.

While assigned to the New Republic Fifth Battle Group throughout the Black Fleet Crisis, 5P8 detected Plat Mallar's abandoned TIE/IN interceptor as it conducted scans of the area around the Koornacht Cluster.
