The 77th Air Wing was a unit of Imperial starfighters organized as a wing. It saw action in the Galactic Empire's initial years. Under the command of Captain Shea Hublin, the air wing included at least one squadron, known as Sword Squadron. Within Sword Squadron were three distinct flights: Blade Flight, Dagger Flight, and Scimitar Flight. Each of these flights operated Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighters. The 77th Air Wing was involved in the Western Reaches Operation, an effort led by Moff Wilhuff Tarkin aimed at eliminating Separatist holdouts from the Western Reaches area of the galaxy. Furthermore, in 17 BBY, the wing participated in a battle that took place on the planet Kelrodo-Ai.
