Alpha was a role within the society of the Crolutes, an amphibious species native to the Mid Rim world of Crul. Alpha Crolutes' junior spouses and concubines would prepare gastropods and fermented kelp-ichor for consumption by other Crolute clan leaders as they floated on their backs in the immersion tank of an alpha's mansion and negotiated trade deals and diplomacy.
Alphas were mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy, written by Jason Fry.
