Appleton was a male Human Imperial Major and investigator who lived during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, he was tasked with retaking the Star Destroyer Blackguard from the traitorous Imperial Captain and self-proclaimed Grand Admiral Andal Sait.
Major Appleton was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. Major Appleton was added to the game along with the "Star Destroyer" Heroic Encounter, introduced with the release of the "Chapter 8" update, on November 1, 2007.
