The Battle of Malastare Narrows took place at Malastare Narrows in 34 BBY. The Corporate Alliance Admiral Trench blockaded the planet Malastare, and a Galactic Republic fleet, in which the human Wullf Yularen served as one of the leading officers, attacked Trench's forces. Trench repulsed them with ease, causing significant losses to the Republic. Ultimately, the issue was settled when a task force led by Jedi Master Kep-She destroyed Trench's flagship and supposedly killed Trench. However, Trench survived the battle and later faced Yularen at the Battle of Christophsis in 22 BBY.
In 34 BBY, over a decade before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, a Corporate Alliance fleet led by the Harch Admiral Trench, the Alliance's best commander, formed a blockade around the planet Malastare. An attempt was made to resolve the situation diplomatically but was unsuccessful.

A naval fleet of Galactic Republic starships, in which the human Wullf Yularen served as one of the leading officers, attacked Trench's fleet at Malastare Narrows on several occasions. Trench pushed the Republic back multiple times and inflicted significant losses before claiming victory with contemptuous ease, destroying most of Yularen's forces and thus becoming a recognized naval officer.
Eventually, the matter was resolved when a task force led by Jedi Master Kep-She moved in on the Corporate fleet. The Jedi-led task force destroyed Trench's flagship, with the admiral being presumed dead, and restored peace to Malastare.
In the battle's aftermath, Yularen left the navy and joined the Senate Bureau of Intelligence, with his nightmares being haunted by Trench, the individual most akin to a nemesis for Yularen. However, Trench revealed that he had survived the battle when he led the Separatist blockade at the Battle of Christophsis during the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, where he again fought against Yularen. During the Battle of Christophsis, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker recalled Trench's supposed death at the battle, and Yularen relayed his experience of the battle to Skywalker.
The Battle of Malastare Narrows was first mentioned in "Cat and Mouse," the sixteenth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which aired on March 26, 2010. The seventy-eighth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars Helmet Collection magazine, published around October 17, 2017, alternatively identified the battle as the Battle of the Malastare Narrows.
