Jeems's ambitions of becoming Deputy Director were dashed in 1 BBY when a group of rebels managed to steal the plans to the Death Star superweapon from the vault, after which the entire facility was destroyed by the Death Star's superlaser.
Bozeden Jeems was a human officer of the Imperial Security Bureau and so was aware of many of the Galactic Empire's closely guarded secrets. An up-and-coming Inspector General based in the Imperial Center of Military Research on the planet Scarif, Jeems was responsible for defending the secrets of the weapons development carried out by Imperial Intelligence. This included overseeing the protection of the data vault on Scarif which contained the plans to the Death Star superweapon.
Jeems hoped to achieve the position of Deputy Director, but these ambitions dissipated when a group of rebels infiltrated the vault on Scarif in 1 BBY. Jeems fiercely scrambled forces in response, but the efforts were in vain, as the rebels succeeded in stealing the Death Star plans and transmitting them to the Alliance fleet. The Imperial Center of Military Research was then destroyed by the superlaser of the superweapon itself.
Jeems wore an Imperial officer's uniform that made him look every bit a soldier who had been promised a great career in the Imperial Era. His white tunic bore a code cylinder on each breast and a rank insignia plaque showing three red pips and then one blue. His black Imperial kepi had an officer's disk as did the silver buckle of his black belt, on which two silver storage cases hung above his black pants.
Bozeden Jeems was created for the 2016 Anthology Series film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in which he was to be portrayed by actor Jamie Beamish; however, his scenes did not make the final cut. The character was instead first mentioned in the film's accompanying reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.
