A COMPNOR Regiment was a standard formation within the Assault arm of CompForce, the most explicitly military component of COMPNOR. Three such regiments formed the Auxiliary battlegroup attached to each Corps in the Imperial Army, but they could also be deployed individually, as was the case with the occupation force on Sedesia.
Organizationally, the COMPNOR Regiment was modeled on a standard Imperial Army line regiment. This meant it had three battalions of conventional infantry (two standard line battalions and one assault battalion with additional heavy weapons), plus one vehicle-mounted battalion in which a reduced force of infantry traveled in repulsorcraft and a troop of speeder bikes were provided for reconnaissance. In situations where the use of repulsor technology was problematic, this battalion could be reequipped with vehicles such as hoverscouts and wheelbikes, though the wheelbikes would not necessarily be of the same type, and the riders did not recieve formal training in the use of their new mounts.
One important difference in organization was the absence of the security platoons assigned to battalion and regimental HQs in the Imperial Army. CompForce commanders believed that these were an unnecessary addition to a well-managed and loyal unit, a notion that offended senior personnel in the regular army. The result was that a COMPNOR Regiment had 3,380 personnel, compared with 3,530 personnel in its Imperial Army counterpart.
