The sentient species of which the mercenary and pirate Chanchaz Iryt was a member was native to Kaump III, a high-gravity planet situated in the Mid Rim's Bruanii sector. Due to the gravity of their homeworld, the species had a short stature and a dense body structure. Its members also had short limbs and a flat face. Iryt was 1.1 meters tall and had brown eyes and hair.
The species' homeworld, Kaump III, featured at least one city with an affluent neighborhood as well as several rough nightclubs.
Chanchaz Iryt was a physically strong—as well as violent and sadistic—member of the species who was born on Kaump III. During his early life, Iryt studied all he could about repulsorlift mechanics while also spending the nights learning about brawling and bullying at some of his homeworld's nightclubs. He worked on engines and also robbed intoxicated people and lost tourists for drink money. Soon, however, Iryt decided that he was destined for more in life and committed a series of highly lucrative and highly publicized robberies in a wealthy district of a local city. Thereafter, at some point by the time of the Galactic Civil War, Iryt left Kaump III aboard a luxury liner traveling to the Outer Rim Territories planet Bespin.
In Bespin's Cloud City settlement, Iryt met the Force-sensitive Zhen Mirat and eventually became the chief lieutenant of the latter's pirate gang, the Fatal Visionaries.
Chanchaz Iryt's species was mentioned in "Iron Hands, Captive Hearts," a roleplaying source article written by Joe Littrell for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game and published in the sixty-eighth issue of the Polyhedron magazine in February 1992.
