Located far beyond the Outer Rim Territories, the Chrelythiumn system was a star system situated in Wild Space, at K-2 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The Mortis monolith, a giant, dark red crystalline structure, was located within the system, which provided access to the ethereal plane of Mortis.
At some point, during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Mortis monolith had appeared somewhere deep within the Chrelythiumn system. After its appearance, the Jedi Order on the planet Coruscant received an ancient distress signal that had not been used in over 2,000 years. In response to the distress signal, the Jedi High Council dispatched Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, to the Chrelythiumn system to investigate the source. However, the Republic had sent a heavily armed Venator-class Star Destroyer to assist the Jedi in the case it was a Separatist trick.
Upon the starships' arrival, the Jedi and the Star Destroyer's personnel, including Clone Captain Rex, could not pick up each other on their scopes, which confused both groups. Suddenly, the Jedi shuttle's communications signals were cut off, and the Mortis monolith appeared to them, drawing them inside of it to the mysterious Force realm of Mortis. After an adventure that saw the deaths of the three godlike Force wielders that lived on Mortis, Skywalker, Kenobi, and Tano woke up back on board their shuttle inside the system. Regaining contact with Rex, they learned that to the outside universe, the shuttle had apparently only been gone for a moment. After informing a confused Rex that they had been gone for a longer time, Skywalker flew the shuttle to the Star Destroyer.
The Chrelythiumn system first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars season three episode "Overlords."
