Chubor was an Aleena Jedi General in the Clone Wars who led the Galactic Republic's effort to evacuate Mahran refugees during the Separatist genocide of their people. Although General Chubor directly pleaded to the Separatist leader, Count Dooku, for at least the younglings to be spared, all evacuees and the Jedi himself were murdered while fleeing the planet Mahranee. Chubor had been on a frigate that ferried the Ashu family, including the brave Ashu-Nyamal, who saw the hopelessness in Chubor's eyes in their final moments.
Chubor was an Aleena Jedi General who served in the Clone Wars. Nearly three standard years into the war, in 19 BBY, he and his Consular-class frigate led the Galactic Republic response to the Mahran people's distress signal; the Separatist Alliance had been bombarding their homeworld, Mahranee. The Jedi arrived to find the capital city in ruins as Separatist vessels fired upon not only his overwhelmed Republic forces but also families of escaping Mahran refugees. As rickety refugee starships were chased into space, Chubor's frigate picked up the Ashu family, among them Ashu-Nyamal and her mother, Rakshu, and siblings Teegu and Kamu.
Although the Republic clone troopers aboard the fleeing frigate instructed the refugees to remain in the holding area, Ashu-Nyamal rushed into the cockpit, where Chubor and a trooper sat in their respective chairs. With the ship's transmissions being relayed to the Jedi High Council on the planet Coruscant, Chubor directly contacted the Separatist leader, Count Dooku, via viewscreen. Dooku quipped that he was surprised at being contacted due to his belief that Jedi wanted to present themselves as "strong and silent." Rather than countering the provocation, Chubor conceded that Dooku was the victor over Mahranee and asked the count to let the people go, but the latter merely chuckled.
The Jedi repeatedly pleaded that the passengers were entire families of injured people—all of whom were innocent civilians—and asked for at least the younglings who made up half of the evacuees to be spared. However, Dooku told "dear General Chubor" that there were no innocents in a war, justifying his genocide with the Mahran people's alliance with the Republic. Dooku further claimed that he had been monitoring Chubor's transmissions and knew that their "chat" was being sent to the Jedi Council, and he pitilessly asserted that "innocents" would continue to die as long as the Republic and the Jedi Order defied him; the count told Chubor that he and his passengers would die too.
Ashu-Nyamal, who had been silent throughout the transmission, screamed when a large Mahranee ship exploded at a distance away from the frigate. Chubor swiveled in his seat and looked into the brave refugee's eyes before their lives ended along with thousands of others under Separatist fire. The Jedi Council subsequently mourned the deaths and decided to attempt assassinating Dooku.
Chubor was a squat Aleena whose relatively short height left his feet dangling on his chair. He spoke Galactic Basic in a high-pitched and slightly nasal voice, expressing sorrow for innocent refugees who were being murdered by the Separatists. Chubor nevertheless maintained a calm composure while attempting to plead for the sparing of the younglings. After Dooku refused to stop the slaughter, Ashu-Nyamal saw the despair in Chubor's widened eyes.
The Jedi General commanded Republic forces at Mahranee from the cockpit of a Consular-class frigate.
Chubor appeared in Christie Golden's novel Dark Disciple. It was published in 2015, adapting an unfinished eight-episode story arc for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series that was written by Katie Lucas, Matt Michnovetz, and Dave Filoni.
