Clan Wren, also known as the Wren clan, was a Mandalorian clan that was a vassal of House Vizsla. Clan Wren was led by Countess Ursa Wren and consisted of her husband Alrich Wren, their son Tristan, and their daughter Sabine, and was composed of Mandalorian warriors that donned Mandalorian armor.
Clan Wren was sided with the Imperial-aligned Clan Saxon during the Imperial Era. However, in 2 BBY, Clan Wren led an insurrection against Clan Saxon and the Empire during the Mandalorian Civil War. One notable member was Sabine, who joined the rebellion.
By the end of the Galactic Civil War, all members of Clan Wren had been killed during the Night of a Thousand Tears with the exception of Sabine.
During the Clone Wars, Clan Wren aligned itself with Clan Vizsla and the Death Watch, which earned the clan the enmity of Fenn Rau and his Mandalorian Protectors. Ursa Wren joined the Mandalore resistance under Lady Bo-Katan Kryze. She fought alongside the resistance and the Republic's Grand Army's 332nd Company during the Siege of Mandalore.
During the Imperial Era, Clan Wren was ruled by Countess Ursa Wren, who resided on the planet Krownest. Her daughter Sabine was a cadet at the Imperial Academy on Mandalore. During this time, Sabine's talents were used by the Galactic Empire, without her consent, to subjugate the Mandalorians. One of these weapons was the Arc Pulse Generator known as the "Duchess," which was capable of reacting with the beskar alloy inside Mandalorian armor; effectively turning priceless heirlooms against their wearers.
When Sabine spoke up against the Empire, her family sided with the Empire, branding her a traitor and disowning her. Sabine then fled the Imperial Academy and her home, became a bounty hunter, and eventually joined the Spectres, a rebel cell. To ensure the family's loyalty, Governor Gar Saxon imprisoned Ursa's husband Alrich Wren as a hostage on Mandalore. Tristan Wren, Sabine's younger brother, served in Saxon's elite platoon of Imperial Super Commandos in order to prove his family's loyalty to Clan Saxon (and by extension, the Empire) and hence retain some of its political influence.
After years of hiding from her past, Kanan convinced Sabine in 2 BBY to take up the mantle of the Darksaber, an ancient lightsaber that had been used to unite the Mandalorian clans. After mastering the Darksaber and overcoming her inner fears, Sabine returned to her family home on Krownest. Sabine tried to mend her strained relationship with her mother Ursa while Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger tried to convince Clan Wren to aid the rebellion. In an attempt to save her daughter, Ursa tried to trade Kanan and Ezra with Governor Saxon for her daughter. However, Saxon reneged on the deal and ordered his Imperial Super Commandos to destroy Clan Wren.
Tristan chose to stand by his family. Clan Wren then defeated Saxon's Super Commandos with the help of the rebels and Rau, who had also joined the rebellion. Sabine defeated Saxon in lightsaber combat but chose to spare his life. Saxon then tried to kill Sabine only to be shot dead by Ursa, who reconciled with her daughter. Saxon's death triggered a civil war among the Mandalorian clans. While Ezra and Kanan returned to the rebellion, Sabine and Rau stayed behind to help Clan Wren and its allies fight against Clan Saxon and the Empire.
By the time of the Battle of Atollon, Clan Wren had lost ground against Clan Saxon and its Imperial backers. Despite these losses, Sabine managed to obtain permission from her mother to take a detachment of Mandalorian volunteers and ships including Tristan and Fenn Rau to break the Imperial Navy blockade of Phoenix Cell's Chopper Base. Clan Wren's forces managed to destroy an Interdictor-class Star Destroyer, allowing the remnants of the Phoenix Squadron to escape to Yavin 4. As a result, Clan Wren gained the favor of Hera Syndulla and the Rebel Alliance.
Clan Wren and members of the Spectres later took part in a mission to rescue Alrich from a Imperial prison outpost. The new Imperial Governor Tiber Saxon had ordered Alrich's public execution in Sundari. Despite seizing the prison with the help of Bo-Katan Kryze and her warriors, they discovered that the Imperials had already evacuated Saxon. Using information supplied by Ursa, Clan Wren and its rebel and Clan Kryze allies managed to rescue Alrich from an Imperial convoy. However, this victory was overshadowed by news that Governor Saxon had deployed the "Duchess" against Ursa and Tristan's forces.
Ursa and Tristan survived but most of their forces were wiped out by the "Duchess," which reacted with their armor and turned their wearers to ash. With the help of Bo-Katan, the surviving Clan Wren members and rebels managed to escape to Bo-Katan's camp. Due to her role in creating the "Duchess," Sabine's presence drew hostility from several of Bo-Katan's followers. However, Ursa warned that anyone who harmed her daughter would attract the wrath of her clan. To atone for her past actions, Sabine agreed to lead a strike mission to destroy the arc pulse generator and the associated data, which were housed aboard Tiber Saxon's Star Destroyer above Sundari.
Ursa offered to lead the attack but Rau countered that she could barely hold a blaster due to her injuries. Instead, Tristan accompanied his sister on the strike team. While Tristan and Rau fought with the Imperial defenders in the Star Destroyer's hangar, Sabine and Bo-Katan sought out the weapon. Despite being ambushed by Tiber Saxon, Sabine managed to turn the weapon against Saxon's stormtroopers before destroying the weapon and Saxon's Star Destroyer. After destroying the weapon, Sabine convinced Bo-Katan to assume ownership of the Darksaber and the mantle of leadership over the Mandalorian clans. Clan Wren then joined the other Mandalorian clans in pledging allegiance to Bo-Katan.
During the Great Purge of Mandalore, all members of Clan Wren along with Sabine's family were wiped out. Sabine Wren was the only known survivor during the aftermath of the Galactic Civil War and formation of the New Republic and this tragedy was later used by the fallen Jedi Knight Baylan Skoll to persuade Sabine Wren to willingly surrender, promising in return that she would be given the opportunity to find the missing Ezra Bridger, who Sabine considered the only family she still had.
Many Clan Wren warriors wore jetpacks, Mandalorian Armor and were armed with WESTAR-35 blaster pistols. They also used at least five Fang-class Fighters.
