Ballast recovered from his injuries and woke several weeks after the skirmish to find that his daughter and wife had died and been buried.
Grieved, Ballast kept his family's picture in his boot to remember them. He left Mordal to travel to the Inner Rim world Jakku, a location he considered desolate enough for war to never reach. In the drinking establishment Ergel's Bar on Jakku, Ballast explained to the bartender Ergel that he had come to the bleak world for his family's sake because it was far from the fighting. Though the man briefly relived the memory of his daughter and wife's deaths in his mind, he broke away from the recollection to continue conversing with Ergel.
By the time of the firefight on Mordal, the daughter of Corwin Ballast was young. Ballast loved his daughter and felt emotionally distraught after their death.
Corwin Ballast's daughter appeared in a flashback in Aftermath, a 2015 novel written by Chuck Wendig as the first installment in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.
