The Council of Meditation was one of at least three Jedi Councils functioning during the Second Imperial Civil War, a conflict fought between the Galactic Alliance Remnant and the Empire of Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt. Following the massacre of the academy of Ossus and the takeover of the Coruscant Temple, the Jedi Order relocated to the planet Taivas where a secret Temple had been established in the event of another purge.
Within the secret enclave the Council of Meditation was convened, made up of Jedi Masters who communed with the Force through meditation in hopes of divining its will. In 138 ABY, Cade Skywalker believed that Darth Krayt had survived an assassination attempt by his second in command Darth Wyyrlok, and asserted this belief to the Jedi High Council. In turn the High Council consulted the Council of Meditation, questioning whether Darth Krayt had indeed survived to terrorize the galaxy. The members of the Council could not conclude that the Sith Lord had survived; though they vowed to continue to meditate on the question upon the request of Master Wolf Sazen.
