Daimla

Young Daimlos underwent a year-long rite of passage during which they rammed each other into unconsciousness using their newly-grown skullplates and horns. The Daimlo Zanales outdid all his peers during one such contest, which elevated him to the status of a hero on his homeworld, and at some point by 27 BBY, Zanales had become an off-world Podracer pilot.

Daimla was indirectly mentioned in the 2016 StarWars.com article "Start Your Engines: Star Wars Podracer Drivers, Part 2," which was authored by Kevin Beentjes. The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Daimla system, and therefore Daimla itself, in grid square K-21.

Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, has stated that the star systems listed in the book's Appendix section, and by extension in the Online Companion as well, are named after the most prominent planets or celestial bodies located in those systems. This article therefore considers the homeworld of the Daimlo species to be named in accordance with the Daimla system.
