A shirt of beskar chainmail was created for Mandalorian foundling Din Grogu by the Armorer, on the commission of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin in the years after the Galactic Civil War. After receiving the armor from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, Grogu was presented with a choice of choosing the armor or Yoda's second lightsaber, symbolizing the path of a Jedi or giving into his attachment and returning to Djarin. Ultimately, Grogu chose the chainmail and decided to return to Din Djarin.
The chainmail armor was crafted by the Armorer at the request of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin around 9 ABY and was forged from Djarin's beskar spear. It was then wrapped and prepared as a gift for Djarin to bring to the Mandalorian foundling Grogu. When Djarin arrived to greet Grogu, he was prevented from doing so by former Jedi Ahsoka Tano. Tano took the gift and later passed it on to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who presented the armor as part of a choice to Grogu. Grogu would then decide whether or not to choose the armor and giving in to the attachment, or the lightsaber of Yoda and the path of a Jedi. Luke also advised that it would take Grogu many years to train in the Force, and that he may never see Djarin again due to the difference in the lifespans of his species and humans. Ultimately, Grogu chose the chainmail and decided to return to Din Djarin.
Sometime later, following a session of training, the Armorer constructed a rondel with a mudhorn signet for Grogu from spare beskar that other Mandalorians left for foundlings. When sitting by the Forge, Grogu had memories of his time surviving Order 66 with the help of Kelleran Beq.
