History


On October 30, 2012, Lucasfilm was acquired by The Walt Disney Company. Several months later, on April 3, 2013, LucasArts, Lucasfilm's video game division, saw its publishing and development offices closed, only retaining its licensing mission, as Disney Interactive coordinated with Lucasfilm. On May 6, 2013, a new licensing strategy was unveiled, with Electronic Arts becoming the exclusive video game contractor for AAA Star Wars video games, while Disney Interactive would focus on "casual audiences".

Disney Canada


Disney Canada, Inc. is primarily responsible for developing products for Disney's Club Penguin franchise. They have developed the Star Wars Takeover and Star Wars Rebels Takeover for the Club Penguin virtual world.

Disney Interactive Worlds


Disney Interactive Worlds makes children MMOs for Disney-owned franchises such as Pirates of the Caribbean. They partnered with Area 52 Games to create Star Wars: Attack Squadrons before its cancellation in 2014.

Star Wars: Commander is one of Disney Mobile's Star Wars games.

Disney Mobile is responsible for creating all iOS video games within Disney Interactive. They have developed Star Wars: Assault Team, Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace, and Star Wars Scene Maker in their own studio. Additionally, they have partnered with various other studios to release Star Wars: Tiny Death Star and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga on iOS platforms.
