Doreen was home to a type of titanic cetacean that vomited up Doreenian ambergris, a substance that was valued by many offworld perfumers. The ambergris was commonly found floating on the water or washed ashore on the perimeter of Doreen's islands. Consequently, gangs of scavengers and smugglers equipped with skimmers plagued the planet, and the security forces of House Petro, one of the Senex-Juvex's aristocratic Ancient Houses, hunted them.
Doreen was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square L-18.
