Doshan was an Expansion Region world situated in the Drannik sector. It was the homeworld of Doshan blood worms. A raider from Doshan once injured Galactic Republic Chief Sergeant Saens Sukko during a mission to collapse the Clowse Glowstack structure as part of the Waymancy Storm conflict. Later, during the reign of the Galactic Empire, a group of Trandoshans attacked Imperial colonists on Doshan. In response, the Empire's 501st Legion carried out an operation on the world, including an attack against a Trandoshan nest near the Arakka waterway. Doshan eventually became a member of the New Republic.
Doshan was a terrestrial world located in the Doshan system. It was a part of the Expansion Region's Drannik sector, being located both in the Outer Expansion Zone sub-region and the Northern Dependencies portion of that region. Its surface featured an equatorial landmass. The world was home to the creatures known as Doshan blood worms, and algae mats were present in the Arakka waterway.
During the Waymancy Storm conflict of 7811 BBY, a raider from Doshan was present on the celestial body Mittoblade, the site of the Clowse Glowstack structure that was associated with the Signatories of Waymancy faction. A group of Galactic Republic agents, including Chief Sergeant Saens Sukko, scaled the magnetic cliff housing the Clowse Glowstack and eventually succeeded in collapsing the structure, although Sukko lost both of his legs to the raider. The Republic's Supreme Chancellor Nagratha later noted that fact at a speech delivered on the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Waymancy Storm in 7786 BBY.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Emperor Palpatine authorized the settlement of Doshan by Imperial colonists. Those settlers were subsequently attacked by a group of Trandoshans. In response, the 501st Legion of Imperial stormtroopers was dispatched to the world and secured strategically important flashpoints across its equatorial landmass.
In one such engagement, the legion's Negastrike platoon destroyed a fortified Trandoshan nest at the mouth of Arakka. The platoon also killed more than a hundred members of the species who had opened fire from under the cover of the waterway's algae mats by incinerating the latter and consequently boiling the Trandoshans alive. The attack on the nest was later mentioned in a mission report included in the Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide, an Imperial Military manual published by 0 BBY. Doshan fell within the borders of the New Republic between 12 ABY and 13 ABY.
During the time of the Galactic Empire, Doshan was home to an Imperial colony. A group of more than one hundred Trandoshan combatants also fought against the colonists there.
Doshan was the site of the Arakka waterway, near the mouth of which an entrenched nest of Trandoshan fighters was situated at one point during the reign of the Galactic Empire.
The name of Doshan was first introduced via a mention of the Doshan blood worm in the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Decide Your Destiny choose-your-own-adventure book The Way of the Jedi by Jake Forbes. That name was subsequently used to refer to a galactic location in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. Another section of the book that would have included a mention of Doshan was cut before the work's release. That section was later released in 2014 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Del Rey editor Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.
The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Doshan system, and therefore Doshan itself, in grid square K-8. Doshan was ultimately described as a world by the 2014 reference book Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide by Daniel Wallace.
