In the new Star Wars canon, the Draethos were first mentioned in the Nexus of Power, the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: Force and Destiny sourcebook, and first appeared in the comic The High Republic (2021) 7, written by Cavan Scott, penciled by Georges Jeanty, and published by Marvel Comics on July 28, 2021. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Draethos were a species created by authors Kevin J. Anderson, Tom Veitch and artist Chris Gossett for the character Odan-Urr and first appeared in the comic Tales of the Jedi – Dark Lords of the Sith 3, published by Dark Horse Comics on December 1, 1994.
