Duranium was a tough alloy used in military-grade plating. It was stronger than titanium but less resilient than impervium. It was notably used in the cybernetic armor of General Grievous. Those same duranium plates that served Grievous successfully were also used in the IG-100 MagnaGuard's frame to protect their vital areas. Jedi Master Barnabas Vim wore duranium armor.
Duranium first appeared in the Star Wars Legends short story "A Boy and His Monster: The Rancor Keeper's Tale," which was published as a part of Tales from Jabba's Palace in 1996. In addition to Star Wars, duranium has appeared in the science fiction franchise Star Trek.
