This grid was designed to unleash potent lightning bolts upon any individual daring enough to traverse the shaft leading to the core. During her act of sabotage against the ship, Callista Ming manipulated the Force to cause the grid to malfunction; however, this action resulted in her own demise, leaving her as nothing more than charred remains. Some years after, Cray Mingla and Nichos Marr, with guidance from Callista's spectral presence, utilized a comparable method to gain access to the control core, which allowed them to ultimately obliterate the Eye of Palpatine. In an odd twist, the enclision grid also served as a means of execution, wielded by a group of mind-controlled Gamorreans while aboard the vessel.
