Eyan McDermitt was a male pirate leader who lived on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War.
After the Battle of Yavin, Eyan McDermitt ruled a small pirate gang based in Mos Taike, on the planet Tatooine. In 1 ABY, McDermitt and his gang hijacked a courier ship belonging to the Incom Corporation. The pirates were only after general cargo but they also stole an encrypted datapad with sensitive information. One of the pirates, Oniruko, attempted to slice but she was fatally injured by the storage device's protection system. Since he did not succeed in obtaining the data, Eyan McDermitt later accepted to sell the datapad to an Imperial commando named Jubai Laetlii. Meanwhile, an individual by the name Sarlis Beni was contacted by Incom Corporation to retrieve the datapad. Beni localized the pirate gang and dispatched a spy to recover the storage data. The spy killed four members of the gang and confronted McDermitt. The pirate leader was forced to reveal he had sold the datapad to Jubai Laetlii. The spy then left the pirates and departed to the Imperial Oasis to find Laetlii. The datapad was eventually returned to Incom Corporation.
Eyan McDermitt was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. Eyan McDermitt was added to the game upon the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005. Eyan McDermitt's species, gender, and appearance would fluctuate after each server reset. However, the quest journal indicated that he was a male.
There was some speculation amongst players of Star Wars Galaxies that the name Eyan McDermitt may have been a reference to the Star Wars actors Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid, or both. However, these claims are unverifiable.
