Darth Krall wielded the lightsaber for some time as a Sith, though the weapon eventually came into the posession of the Jedi Order. Klias Teradine, a Jedi Padawan during the High Republic Era, snuck into the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts—a forbidden vault of the Jedi Archives of the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant—and saw the Saber of Darth Krall, which had been stored there. Teradine later documented the incident in his holojournal at some point before being killed in 241 BBY by fellow Padawan Tylera Yorrick after he had become possessed by a vitalicron, though many Jedi later theorized him to have been expelled from the Jedi Order.

In 231 BBY, Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis experienced a Force vision set on the Amaxine Space Station, in which Darth Krall wielded his lightsaber against the Jedi. When Krell stabbed Trennis in their duel, the Jedi broke out of her meditation.

In 88 BBY, Jedi Initiate Sifo-Dyas discovered Teradine's holojournal and read about the Padawan's visit to the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts, including when he had seen the Saber of Darth Krall. Sifo-Dyas shared this information with his fellow Initiate, Dooku, and the pair decided to sneak into the vault as well. However, when the pair saw Sith's lightsaber, Sifo-Dyas was not impressed by it and said that he thought it would have been spikier. Dooku later told his sister Jenza about the events in a holo-letter. Around 23 BBY, Dooku gave data disks containing his messages to Jenza to his recently recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress, for her investigation into his sister's location, and she listened to the message that mentioned the lightsaber.
