The Fourth Sister, formerly known as Lyn Rakish, was a Force-sensitive humanoid female member of the Inquisitorius during the Imperial Era. Once a Jedi herself, the Fourth Sister recruited fallen Jedi Barriss Offee into the Inquisitorius, although Offee eventually abandoned the group while on a with the Fourth Sister to find a rogue Jedi.
The Fourth Sister also participated in the hunt for Obi-Wan Kenobi in 9 BBY, joining fellow Inquisitors to search for the Jedi Master on the planets Daiyu and Mapuzo and failing to prevent Kenobi's escape from the Fortress Inquisitorius.
Eventually, the Fourth Sister located Offee, who encouraged her to leave the Empire behind after the Fourth Sister severely wounded her. During the imprisonment of Rebel Alliance Lieutenant Thom Hudd, the Fourth Sister was impersonated by Rebel Commander Lina Graf, who managed to rescue Hudd.
Lyn Rakish was a female individual who served as a Jedi of the Jedi Order. After Order 66, she fell to the dark side of the Force and willingly became the Fourth Sister in the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, who served the Sith as an extension of Darth Sidious and Darth Vader's will.
Rakish, by then known as the Fourth Sister, visited Barriss Offee at the Imperial Inspectorate HQ accompanied by two Imperial clone shock troopers and offered her a chance to join the newly established Empire's Inquisitorius. Barriss became an Inquisitor after killing her opponent but she became disillusioned with the cruelty of the Empire and abandoned the Inquisitorius as pushing the Fourth Sister with the Force while they chased a Jedi.
In 9 BBY, after the Third Sister hired Vect Nokru and his mercenaries to kidnap the Alderaanian Princess Leia Organa and bring her to Daiyu in hopes that Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi would be contacted by Leia's adoptive father, Imperial Senator Bail Prestor Organa, to rescue her. The Fourth Sister and the Fifth Brother accompanied the Grand Inquisitor to capture Kenobi. Once they met with the Third Sister on Daiyu, the Grand Inquisitor chastised her for kidnapping a senator's daughter and dismissed her from the mission. After the inquisitors secured the city, The Fourth Sister showed the Grand Inquisitor a bounty hunter alert advertising a bounty placed on Kenobi's head, leading the Grand Inquisitor to deduce that the Third Sister had acted behind his back once again. She later went to examine a crowd of civilians.
After the supposed death of the Grand Inquisitor on Daiyu, the Fourth Sister was present at Fortress Inquisitorius along with the Fifth Brother when the Third Sister arrived to inform them of the location of Kenobi. The Fourth Sister claimed that the Jedi Master could be anywhere, but the Third Sister demanded the probe droids to be sent out to pinpoint Obi-Wan's locations as she got orders from Darth Vader himself. The Inquisitors later had another meeting at the fortress where they confirmed that Kenobi was at Mapuzo, a mining planet on the Mid Rim. The Fourth Sister then ordered a group of Imperial officers to gather their stormtroopers and shut down every single port at the planet. The Fourth Sister and her fellow Inquisitors arrived along with Darth Vader at a nearby settlement on Mapuzo, while the Sith Lord started terrorizing civilians in order to draw Kenobi out, the Inquisitors had the task of sweeping the town and search for others. After Vader had a brief duel with Obi-Wan on a quarry where the Jedi Master managed to escape, the Fourth Sister informed the Fifth Brother that their new orders were to sweep the planet.
The Fourth Sister was present along with the Fifth Brother during the infiltration of the Fortress Inquisitorius by Obi-Wan Kenobi though they failed to prevent his escape. Later she and a pleased Fifth Brother witnessed Darth Vader's rage against the Third Sister because of her apparent failure and the Jedi’s seeming success in penetrating and escaping the Fortress, but the Sith spared her life when she told him it was in reality part of her plan to track Leia and the Jedi by inserting a restraining bolt on Leia’s droid L0-LA59.
While continuing to serve the Inquisitorius, the Fourth Sister went on a mission hunting a Force-sensitive infant and his family. Her search brought her to an ice planet, where she discovered her quarry being sheltered by Offee. The Fourth Sister remarked on the irony that she found Offee when the Inquisitorious had almost given up searching for her. She then attacked Offee, who easily evaded her strikes, even holding back her lightsaber with the Force. Realizing Offee was stalling her as the family and Offee's attendants made it into a nearby cave system, the Fourth Sister demanded she stand aside. Offee freely permitted her to follow, but forewarned that she would get lost in the cave. Dismissing her warning, the Fourth Sister vowed to return for Offee once she had dealt with the child.
Venturing into the labyrinth, the Fourth Sister unsuccessfully scoured the tunnels but her quarry managed to reach Offee's starship and flee the planet. With her target having escaped and becoming lost in the tunnels, the Fourth Sister furiously slashed at an ice wall, before hearing Offee calling out, offering to show her the way out if she lowered her weapon. The Fourth Sister expressed hesitancy, knowing what the Empire would do to her if she returned empty handed, leading Barriss to remark that fear is not her ally, but her master. The Fourth Sister then began striking at the walls in frustration before accidentally stabbing Barriss, who was approaching her with open arms, through the abdomen. Overcome with remorse, the Fourth Sister caught Offee, who offered forgiveness and encouraged the Fourth Sister to leave behind her Inquisitor persona and become Rakish again. Offee insisted that there was both a way out of the cave and a way out of the Empire for Rakish. After leaving her Inquisitor lightsaber behind and with Offee's guidance, Rakish navigated out of the cave while carrying Offee's body.
The fate of the Fourth Sister was ultimately unknown. At some point following a mission to the Outer Rim by members of the Rebel Alliance, the Fourth Sister lost her armor to Rebel Alliance Commander Lina Graf. Other than the fact that the Inquisitor's armor was in Graf's possession, nothing was known about the fate of the Fourth Sister to the wider galaxy. Graf, wearing the Fourth Sister's armor, impersonated her and infiltrated Fortress Vader on Mustafar where Rebel Lieutenant Thom Hudd was being held prisoner by Darth Vader's aide, Vaneé.
After talking and fighting with the Fourth Sister, Vaneé realized that it was not her, but that it was Graf. Vaneé told her that he knew because she was not carrying a lightsaber, and managed to briefly defeat her. Graf, however, regained the upper hand and along with Hudd, managed to escape Mustafar.
The Fourth Sister hunted down serving Jedi mercilessly. She respected the Grand Inquisitor's wishes, having a no-nonsense attitude when it came to abiding orders or giving them. Like most Inquisitors, she was terrified of Lord Vader, quickly stepping back when he angrily arrived to punish Third Sister for her failure. According to the Thirteenth Sister, the Fourth Sister's mind seemed to always be elsewhere, making her unavailable for sparring sessions with her fellow inquisitors.
As an Inquisitor, the Fourth Sister was Force-sensitive.
The Fourth Sister was equipped with her own dark colored Inquisitor uniform, and carried a double-bladed spinning lightsaber. When impersonating Fourth Sister, Lina Graf wore a helmet that had a red T-shaped visor. However, she lacked a lightsaber like the Fourth Sister carried, leading Vaneé to realize she was an imposter.
The Fourth Sister was first mentioned via impersonation in the fourth issue of the Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle comic book series, which was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Francesco Francavilla, and released on October 23, 2019. Although she was not named in the comic, Scott later revealed that the impersonated Inquisitor was dubbed Fourth Sister in the comic's script. She was later formally identified as such in the Star Wars Encyclopedia reference booklet "Darth Maul and Other Followers of the Dark Side," published by De Agostini on July 13, 2021. The actual Fourth Sister first appeared in "Part II" of the live-action series Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which she was portrayed by Rya Kihlstedt, which was first announced on the Disney website. Kihlstedt later reprised the role, voicing Lyn Rakish/the Fourth Sister for the animated Tales of the Empire series of shorts.
