Grievous's frigate

General At the Battle of Bothawui, Grievous utilized a Munificent-class star frigate as his command ship. However, during this engagement, the vessel met its end when Republic AT-TEs executed a flanking maneuver against Grievous's fleet within a belt of asteroids, dealing critical damage from the rear.

History

Back in 22 BBY, this particular vessel spearheaded a fleet composed of Munificent-class star frigates with the objective of invading the planet Bothawui, this followed the successful destroying of Republic resistance forces stationed on Falleen. Republic naval forces, under the strategic leadership of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker alongside his padawan Ahsoka Tano, intercepted Grievous's fleet above the planet of Bothawui Prime, leading to an engagement with the Separatist forces.

Grievous strategically navigated his squadron of six frigates through the asteroid belt surrounding the planet, while the Republic fleet maintained their position between Bothawui Prime and the asteroid field. Capitalizing on the protection afforded by the asteroids, Grievous commanded that all available power within the frigates be channeled into the forward shields, thereby leaving the rear sections of the vessels exposed and vulnerable. Anakin Skywalker led the starfighter unit known as Gold Squadron in an assault against the frigates. However, after incurring the loss of two V-19 Torrent starfighters, the squadron retreated, while Anakin continued his attack on the enemy frigates.

As the Confederate fleet advanced through the asteroid belt, AT-TEs that were strategically positioned on the asteroids unleashed a barrage of fire upon the unshielded rear sections of the frigates. The combined firepower of the Republic fleet and the flanking walkers resulted in the destruction of the Separatist fleet, including the command ship itself, while Grievous managed to escape the battle aboard his personal vessel, the Soulless One.

Later, the wreckage of the command ship was scavenged by the Trandoshan scavenger Gha Nachkt, who subsequently discovered R2-D2 amidst the debris field.
