Gyndine

Gyndine was an administrative planet in the Circarpous sector of the Expansion Region, situated at in grid square O-12 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It was located along the Nanth'ri Trade Route between celestial bodies Lonera and Kerev Doi, with another hyperspace route connecting it to the astronomical object Belasco.

Gyndine was under the control of the Galactic Empire, with Moff Bin Essada of the Circarpous sector having offices on the world. By 10 BBY, Essada coordinated a campaign on the planet Mimban, also located in the Circarpous sector and along the Nanth'ri Trade Route, from the offices. By the time of the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the former hosted major shipyards at Gyndine.

In 3 ABY, the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry led a campaign named Operation Ringbreaker against a number of minor Imperial resource hubs, with the final target being the Kuat Drive Yards, the primary producer and servicer of the Empire's Star Destroyers. The Alliance Intelligence vetted the campaign from afar, and as Operation Ringbreaker made early success, General Crix Madine made a galactic map of major Imperial shipyards, drydocks, and mining centers that could be targeted if the sabotage of Kuat Drive Yards was successful, sending it in an official document to Alliance Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma. Gyndine was listed on the map, designated as a medium-production target with a high security level. However, Operation Ringbreaker was ultimately cut short. The map noting Gyndine was included in an archive of non-electronic documents called The Rebel Files by archivist Hendri Underholt.

In 5 ABY, a mole in the Pyke Syndicate criminal organization working for the New Republic, the Alliance's successor, reported to New Republic Intelligence that a badly damaged Imperial Quasar Fire-class cruiser carrier had gone to the Gyndine shipyards seeking assistance. The report was reviewed by New Republic Intelligence Agent Caern Adan and his colleague Yrica Quell, who were trying to track down the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. Quell found the source reliable but felt that the information was insufficient for their goal and so marked the sighting with medium confidence on their sightings map. In 34 ABY, several screens on Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon displayed a partial map of the galaxy that indicated positions of locations like Gyndine.

Gyndine was home to the offices of Imperial moff Bin Essada as well as major shipyards.

Gyndine was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a map in the fifty-second issue of De Agostini's magazine series Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, published around December 30, 2015. It made its first in-universe appearance when it was depicted on a map viewable in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida that opened to the public on March 1, 2022.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Gyndine first appeared in Splinter of the Mind's Eye, a novel written by Alan Dean Foster and released in 1978. It was first pictured in the second issue of the comic series that adapted the novel. The issue was written by Terry Austin, penciled by Chris Sprouse, and published by Dark Horse Comics on February 27, 1996.
