The Halo was an SS-54 assault ship owned by the Zabrak bounty hunter Sugi during the Clone Wars. Over the course of the Galactic Civil War, this ship came into the possession of Sugi's niece, Jas Emari.
The Halo was armed with twin ZX7 laser cannons hanging below the well-armored front cockpit and a rear-facing dual laser cannon on its back that later was replaced by a quad turret. It was able to face forward and fired hundreds of nanofiber rail-tubes per second.
The Zabrak bounty hunter Sugi acquired the Halo at some point and used it as her personal transport throughout the Clone Wars. The ship was also used by Sugi's bounty hunting team, consisting of Embo, Rumi Paramita, and Seripas. In 22 BBY, Sugi's team traveled to the planet Felucia in the Halo after being hired to protect a village of nysillin farmers who were being extorted for their crop by a band of pirates. While on Felucia, the bounty hunters parked the Halo in a nearby barn. When Jedi Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano crashed onto the planet and found the village, they discovered Halo in the barn, with Kenobi remarking that it would be an odd ship for farmers to own. With the help of the Jedi, Sugi's bounty hunters trained the Felucians to defend themselves against the pirates. After the pirates had been defeated, Sugi offered to take the Jedi back to the Republic on the Halo.
Later in the war, Sugi was hired by a team of Wookiees to rescue Chewbacca from Trandoshan hunters on the moon Wasskah. With Seripas by her side, Sugi piloted Halo while Wookiees leapt from the main hold to fight the Trandoshans. Afterwards, the Halo transported the freed younglings and Chewbacca to Coruscant.
Jas Emari was given Halo by her aunt along with her many debts. The ship was first seen in use by her in 5 ABY when she first began hunting fugitive Imperials alongside Norra Wexley, Temmin Wexley, Mister Bones, Jom Barell, and Sinjir Velus. On one of the teams various assignments, Halo was piloted by Temmin Wexley in an attempt to save the others on a mission to capture Imperial fugitive, Vice Admiral Perwin Gedde. Temmin briefly fought some pursuing TIE fighters in the Halo as the team made their escape. On the trip back to Chandrila, Jas began to argue with Jom Barell. This argument escalated to a fight with Jas and Jom moving into one of the Halo's bunkrooms. Their teammates attempted to enter the locked bunkroom to stop their fight until they realized the two were no longer fighting but making love.
Once Halo reached Chandrila, the team prepared to hand their prisoner over to the New Republic, only to realize Gedde had died on the journey. Later, the team met on the Halo where they discussed the possibility that the bounty hunter Mercurial Swift was responsible for Gedde's death. During this meeting, they also discussed the whereabouts of the then missing General Han Solo and their plans to find him.
To begin their plan, Jas took the Halo to Nar Shaddaa along with Jom. After parking it in a black market, Jas paid a Weequay to keep the ship off the records of the local Black Sun and Crymorah syndicates. Jas located and questioned Nyarla the Hutt regarding Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Imperial prisons. Nyarla did not provide any useful intel and so Jas and Jom began to leave. Before they could return to the Halo however, the two were ambushed by a gang led by Underboss Rynscar. Rynscar ordered Jas to pay her aunt's debts. Jas was unable to pay these debts at the time but offered to pay twice what she owed or, if she failed, turn herself in. Rynscar let her go but before Jas left, she asked for information about the location of Solo. On the Halo, Jas and Jom shared a kiss before returning to Chandrila.
With the intel from Rynscar, Norra and her team took the Halo to Irudiru where they found Solo. Together, they captured prison architect Golas Aram who had information regarding where the Wookiee Chewbacca was imprisoned. With Han in the Millennium Falcon and Jas's team in the Halo, they made their way to the planet Kashyyyk where they believed Chewbacca to be imprisoned. The two ships passed through the Imperial blockade by claiming to be a repair crew for Ashmead's Lock prison. The two landed together on Kashyyyk's surface a quarter of a kilometer away from their destination. After freeing the prisoners from Ashmeads Lock, including Chewbacca and Brentin Wexley, Jas, Sinjir and Jom stayed behind with Han to assist in the liberation of the planet. Norra, Temmin, and Mister Bones took the freed prisoners back to Chandrila aboard the Falcon while the Halo was left behind with Jas.
During the liberation of Kashyyyk, the Halo served a crucial role as a transport for the various missions executed by Han and his rebels. During the attack on Camp Sardo, the Halo transported Jas, Han and Chewbacca to the ghost city of Awrathakka where they were successful in destroying the shield generator to Camp Sardo. In the ensuing battle, Jas piloted the Halo, bombing various walkers and Imperial forces. After their success at Camp Sardo, Grand Moff Lozen Tolruck ordered his orbiting Star Destroyers to bombard the planet into submission. The Halo was struck from a laser bolt during this bombardment. Jas threw a thermal detonator at a squad of Stormtroopers who were pursuing Jom and Sinjir as they hurried toward the Halo's open door. Once the surviving rebels were safe underground, Jas and Han created a plan to take down the orbiting Destroyers. The first part of this plan began when a transport filled with Webweaver Spiders landed in the Dominion's hanger. Once the spiders were free, the Halo landed in the hanger allowing Jas, Jom, and Chewbacca to join the fight. Together, they were able to hijack the Dominion and destroy its sister ship, Vitiator. Shortly afterwards, Admiral Ackbar arrived with a New Republic fleet, forcing the remaining Imperials into a surrender. Jas and Sinjir would return to Chandrila on the Halo where she told Sinjir of her plan to leave the team to focus on her debts. She soon found out, however, that the New Republic no longer hired bounty hunters, leading her to rejoin with Norra.
For its appearance in "Wookiee Hunt" the design of the Halo was significantly altered; most noticeably adding a center section cargo/staging area, pushing back the aft section to allow the landing gear to function as it had in the original, but also more subtle cosmetic changes like thickening the wing pylons, rounding off the nose, adding extra yellow marking and nose art of a pink tooka doll wielding a knife with the Aurebesh words "Nice playing with ya."
