The term speeder generally described a range of rapid, hovering ground vehicles. These vehicles utilized anti-gravity repulsorlift technology and operated within a planet's atmospheric conditions. As an illustration, consider landspeeders like the XP-38 sport landspeeder; the term also encompassed airspeeders, even though they weren't technically repulsorcraft because they didn't hover directly above the ground. Certain speeders incorporated afterburners, which facilitated high-velocity flight. Airspeeders could attain greater altitudes than landspeeders, with some reaching heights exceeding 250 kilometers.
