The Jedi Tree was a sacred centuries-old Force-sensitive uneti tree that grew on the Temple Island of the planet Ahch-To. Once upon a time the tree was massive, but over time it withered away, and all that remained of it by 34 ABY was an ancient, mossy husk, with an opening, carved by weather and time. Three pulpy offshoots stood guard around a gigantic central trunk, with the tops splintered like jagged crowns, without any foliage or branches. Only moss grew on the ashen bark. It was accessible by a stairway that led from the first Jedi Temple to the tree. After Rey left Ahch-To for the Crait system in 34 ABY, Skywalker attempted to burn the tree down, but was intercepted by the Force spirit of Yoda, who summoned a lightning strike that set the tree ablaze. Shortly thereafter, Skywalker included a mention of the Jedi Tree in The Secrets of the Jedi, a book in which he chronicled the history of the Jedi Order.
