Chindinkalu plants were native to Kirdo III. The Kitonak musician Droopy McCool used a hollow chindinkalu plant to create his Chindinkalu flute which he played at Jabba's Palace in 4 ABY during the Rescue of Han Solo.
Kirdo III was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, a 1989 Star Wars Legends supplement written by Troy Denning for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. It became canon when it was mentioned in the 2015 novel Heir to the Jedi as Kirdo, but was first identified as Kirdo III in the Star Wars: Card Trader card Droopy McCool - Chindinkalu Flute Player, which included detailed information about Droopy McCool.
