The Lupr'or were a sentient humanoid species that moved to the planet Luprora after leaving their previous home many years before the Battle of Starkiller Base. During the hunt for Lieutenant Sol Rivas, Captain Phasma, TN-3465, and the BB unit BB-K8 encountered the Lupr'or and enlisted their help in storming the R'ora stronghold where Rivas was being held. After eliminating Rivas, Phasma abandoned the Lupr'or to the tender mercies of the R'ora.
The Lupr'or were the descendants of offworld migrants who had fled their homeworld centuries before the outbreak of the First Order-Resistance War. Settling on the planet Luprora, they abandoned technology, regarding it as a "soul-killing" evil that had destroyed their previous world. The Lupr'or adopted a primitive lifestyle based on fishing and farming on the planet's surface. However, the climate on Luprora worsened with rising sea levels inundating the small land they had once farmed.
Due to the rising water levels, the Luprora were terrorized by the monstrous Tsw'ells and the R'ora, a sentient population that originated in the seas. By the time of the Battle of Starkiller Base in 34 ABY, the Lupr'or population had been reduced to a small remnant that inhabited a village. They were led by Jair'i, who styled himself as the "leader of the great Lupr'or peoples."
That year, the First Order members Captain Phasma, TN-3465, and the droid BB-K8 encountered the Lupr'or while searching for the fugitive Lieutenant Sol Rivas, whom Phasma had framed for destroying Starkiller Base. Phasma impressed the Lupr'or by slaying a tsw'ell. The First Order visitors were brought into the presence of Jair'i, the leader of Lupr'or peoples. He recounted his people's tragic history before revealing that Rivas had been taken prisoner by the R'ora. Since Phasma was still determined to hunt down Rivas, Jair'i sent the female guide Dar'en to accompany the offworlders to the R'ora stronghold in an attempt to convince them of the futility of the task.
After studying the site, Phasma returned to the village where she encountered a young Lupr'or girl, who was wearing a necklace. Phasma asked the girl where she got her necklace from. The girl led her to her great grandmother Ali'ane, who revealed that she had obtained the necklace from a starship. Ali'ane refused to revel the location of the ship, regarding it as the "soul killer." In secret, the girl agreed to lead Phasma, TN-3465, and Dar'en to the mountain where the ship rested.
With the help of BB-K8 and Dar'en, Phasma managed to convince the Lupr'or that she had been sent to lead them to victory over the R'ora. She also convinced them to salvage generators from the starship. In truth, Phasma only wanted to use the Lupr'or as cannon fodder for reaching Rivas.Under Phasma's leadership, the Lupr'or launched an attack on the R'ora three days later at dawn. After electrocuting the lake, the Lupr'or led by Phasma and TN-3465 rowed across the lake and climbed the cliff leading to the stronghold.
While the Lupr'or and R'ora fought, Captain Phasma took the opportunity to hunt down and kill Rivas, concealing her role in the destruction of Starkiller Base. However, TN-3465 learned the truth behind Starkiller Base. She attempted to avoid drawing Phasma's attention by feigning concern for the Lupr'or. Phasma was indifferent to the Lupr'or's plight, regarding them as colonizers who were trying to supplant the indigenous R'ora. Phasma also argued that the species were unsuitable to the planet's evolution and were being weeded out through natural selection. Before leaving Luprora, Phasma destroyed BB-K8 and murdered TN-3465 to conceal her role in the destruction of Starkiller Base.
The Lupr'or first appeared in Star Wars: Captain Phasma, a 2017 four-issue comic published by Marvel Comics as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotional material. The species was created by Kelly Thompson, illustrated by Marco Checchetto, and colored by Andres Mossa.
