MSE-6-G735Y

MSE-6-G735Y, or G7 for short, was a MSE-6 series repair droid stationed on the Death Star in 0 BBY, assigned to the Maintenance Unit in Sector AA-345. It was maintained by the stormtrooper designated TK-421, who considered it the fastest mouse droid in the Imperial fleet. TK-421 wanted to be transferred to Coruscant and promised to take G7 with him to enter it into the racing circuit.

G7 was attempting to carry out Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's order to summon TK-421 when it encountered Luke Skywalker and Han Solo disguised in armor they had taken from the bodies of TK-421 and TK-710, and Chewbacca, who roared at the droid and sent it fleeing in self-preservation mode.

MSE-6-G735Y first appeared in the 1977 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and was first identified in the short story "Of MSE-6 and Men" by Glen Weldon in the 2017 anthology From a Certain Point of View. Sound designer Ben Burtt created the voice of the mouse droid through a combination of unused sounds for R2-D2 and his own voice sped up and filtered.
