These quarters were assigned to Master Windu upon his appointment to the High Council. Within these chambers, Windu would meditate on the Force and mentor any Jedi requesting counsel.
Following the Mission to Er'stacia, Master Windu met with Yoda in his chambers to review the mission. Later while meditating, the pair received a report from Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi who was investigating the attempted assassination of Senator Padmé Amidala on Kamino. While on the water-world, Kenobi had met with Prime Minister Lama Su who revealed the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic. The Masters were shocked that Prime Minister Su claimed that the Jedi Council had placed the order and were even more concerned with the fact they had not sensed its creation through the Force. Realizing how clouded the Force was, the two decided to keep their diminishing abilities private so as not to boost the moral of the resurgent and mysterious Sith Lord.
Soon after the First Battle of Geonosis and the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Windu met with Master Tholme and Jedi Quinlan Vos regarding a proposed undercover mission to get into the upper echelons of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Vos wished to use his extensive spy network to get close to Count Dooku and discover the identity of the second Sith. Windu said that he would consent, yet he would have to consult Master Yoda before Vos could depart. When Yoda approved, Vos left the Temple and began his war long campaign to undermine the Separatists.
While Jedi Kenobi was on a secret mission on Zigoola, Master Yoda received a cry through the Force from his wayward Jedi. Early in the morning while the rest of the Temple slept, Yoda rushed to Windu's room and roused him from his sleep. Sitting up on his cot, Windu agreed that Yoda should send non-Jedi assistance so as to avoid the thrall of the Sith presence on the planet.
Following the Battle of Xagobah, the young bounty hunter Boba Fett encountered Jedi Anakin Skywalker and revealed he had dire news for the Supreme Chancellor. Skywalker arranged for Governor Wilhuff Tarkin to escort the bounty hunter to the Jedi Temple until an arrangement with the Office of the Supreme Chancellor could be made. Once there, Fett began to plot the assassination of Master Windu. In the time before Windu was due at the Chancellor's Office Fett sneaked through the service corridors of the Temple up to the Council Members' Level. Preparing to execute the Master, Fett opened Windu's door to find the room empty. Concluding that Windu had just left, the bounty hunter leapt out of the window and used his jetpack to fly to the Senate Building.
Windu was stationed at the Temple when Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was discovered to be the elusive Darth Sidious. One of the only individuals in the galaxy to discover this terrible truth, Windu went to the Chancellor's Office and attempted to arrest the Sith Lord. Falling victim to the Sith, Windu died and the Temple was seized by the Grand Army's 501st Legion under Operation: Knightfall.
Located on the Council Members' Level of the High Council Tower, the room was accessed through a black door off a hallway that ringed the tower's central shaft. Bare and hexagonal, the room was empty save a few meditation pads and a sleep couch. The center of the room was occupied with a slim holoprojector from which Windu could receive reports from Jedi in the field. Styled in a rusty-red hue, the chamber ringed by pilars which framed windows looking out onto the cityscape of Galactic City.
Mace Windu's chamber in the Jedi Temple was originally going to be an executive office, with a desk behind which Mace would receive Obi-Wan Kenobi's report. However, George Lucas felt that the Jedi would not keep office space in the Temple, and Mace's chamber adopted the Spartan style of Yoda's quarters.
In the shooting script, the scene in Mace's quarters is listed as taking place in Yoda's chamber.
