Mallop was an Imperial Navy TIE pilot Flight Commander who flew a TIE/LN starfighter by 3 ABY. That year, following the Galactic Empire's occupation of the planet Bespin, Mallop was among the TIE pilots patrolling outside the planet who escorted the departing bounty hunter Boba Fett's Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft Slave I. Mallop and the other pilots were shortly afterward ordered to pursue the YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon, which was attempting to escape Imperial clutches on Bespin.
Mallop was a TIE pilot Flight Commander in the Imperial Navy. He flew a TIE/LN starfighter, and Flight Lieutenant Rignik reported to him. In 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire occupied the planet Bespin, intending to capture the Alliance to Restore the Republic's YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon. When bounty hunter Boba Fett, who had aided the Empire during Bespin's occupation, left the planet aboard his Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft Slave I, Mallop was among the four TIE/LN starfighter pilots—initially on a routine patrol—who approached Slave I as it headed towards the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Avenger outside Bespin.
When the TIE/LN starfighters accelerated to match the speed of Slave I, Fett warned them to slow down. Mallop and the other TIE pilots remained following Slave I only at maximum range before the latter ship jumped into hyperspace. However, Mallop and the other pilots' return to their normal patrol routes was very short-lived before the group received new orders to pursue the Millennium Falcon as it was approaching them from Bespin. When Rignik nervously asked about the Falcons history in the Hoth asteroid field and the Battle of Yavin, Mallop disciplined his subordinate and said that the latter would be on report upon them landing. Ultimately, it was TIE/LN starfighters from the Imperial Obsidian Squadron that pursued the Falcon out of Bespin and into space before the freighter instead escaped Imperial clutches.
Mallop and the other TIE pilots were relieved when Boba Fett's Slave I jumped into hyperspace and they no longer had to escort the latter ship. When Rignik mentioned the history of the Millennium Falcon, Mallop first roared to his subordinate to shut up, before saying he meant to order Rignik to keep silence over the TIE pilots' communication systems. In a private transmission to Rignik, Mallop went on to say the latter would be on report upon landing.
Author Michael Stern created Mallop for "Dark Voyage to Tatooine," a story published in 1990 in West End Games' roleplaying sourcebook Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi.
