Mrlssti Laser Phantoms were special holograms developed by Professor Rorax Falken of the Mrlsst Trade and Science Academy.
Falken designed the system for producing the Phantoms while he headed a reconstruction of the Academy's security system. His first Phantom depicted the Jedi Taj Junak, who had been martyred on the Academy grounds, giving rise to the legend of the "Ghost Jedi." He later modified it to resemble Throm Loro in order to trick the Wookiee Rebel Groznik into serving him.
Some months later, Imperial Intelligence Director Ysanne Isard used the technology to train urban fighting against semi-solid Holograms.
The Phantoms were projected by special two-way holocams that covered all parts of the Academy, much like ordinary Holograms. However, Phantoms were at least partially charged with energy, able to affect their surroundings in a variety of ways. A Phantom could simulate the cutting effect of a lightsaber, as well as fire low-intensity energy bolts and duplicate color-coded laser keys.
