Gold is married to Frank Hewetson, a Greenpeace activist who was imprisoned in Russia in 2013 for protesting Russian oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean. The couple have two children, Nell and Joe. Their son, Joe Hewetson, plays a Resistance officer in Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
