The Nova Prince was a bulk freighter operated by a group of exiles from the Red Nebula during the era of the Galactic Civil War. In 0 ABY, the leader of these exiles, Klysk, kept a number of mercenaries, smugglers and spacers prisoner aboard the Nova Prince—these beings were kidnapped on fringe worlds like Terminus, in order to serve as thieves for an attempted heist of the Red Nebula's Great Life Jewels.
The exiles were forced to rely on captured pilot Han Solo to guide the Nova Prince through an asteroid field on the way to the Red Nebula, as the ship was large and not easily maneuverable. Solo and his partner Chewbacca seemingly returned with the jewels not long after, prompting Klysk—who was hoping to bring about the destruction of the Red Nebula via the jewels' destruction—to fly the Nova Prince into the star at the center of the nebula. However, Solo and Chewbacca had actually hidden the real jewels away, meaning the deaths of the people aboard the Nova Prince were in vain.
