Pral was first mentioned in "Aliens in the Empire, Part 2: To a Traitor Go the Spoils," a 2007 Hyperspace article written by Abel G. Peña and Rich Handley. Although the 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia placed Pral within the Jahilid Drift, which was stated to be an Outer Rim Territories region, the 2009 book The Essential Atlas placed the Pral system, and therefore Pral itself, in grid square L-21 as part of Wild Space instead. Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, confirmed during the development of the The Essential Atlas Online Companion that the Wild Space localization prevails.
